West Bromwich Albion Personalised Football Diary

Fantastic Diary Gifts for Fans of West Bromwich Albion!

West Bromwich Albion formed in 1878 and the football club has gone on to win every major domestic tournament at least once. The Baggies have spent the majority of their history in the top flight and became First Division Champions in 1920. After a rare spell in the Second Division, West Bromwich FC won both promotion and the FA Cup in 1931. This was a unique ‘double‘ that had never been done before and the Baggies were still the only club to have achieved this feat at the turn of the century. In addition to the nickname of ‘The Baggies’, West Bromwich Albion is also known as ‘The Stripes’ and ‘The Thistles’. Supporters are famously dedicated to their team and in 2002, the BBC television programme “Test The Nation" found that fans of West Bromwich FC were likely to be smarter than any other football supporters in the country.

Our Personalised West Bromwich Albion Diaries feature twelve reproduced match reports on some of the club’s best games from the past century. These Diaries come in a convenient A5 size and can start from the month of your choice. They are therefore a great gift idea for any occasion.

Diary Highlights

The Personalised West Bromwich Albion Diaries begin with the 2-1 win against Birmingham City in the 1931 FA Cup final. The Baggies won the FA Cup again in 1954 and one of the best matches in this campaign was the 3-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur in the quarter-finals. The A5 Diary also includes the tense 1-1 draw against Liverpool FC in the 1968 quarter-final replay and the 3-5 win against Manchester United during the club’s run to the semi-final in 1978.

After eventually beating Liverpool in the 1968 tie, West Bromwich Albion went on to win their fifth FA Cup. This guaranteed the club a place in the European Cup Winners’ Cup for the following season. The tournament was the Baggies’ second trip into Europe and after beating Club Brugge KV in the first round, West Bromwich FC came up against Dynamo Bucharest. The Baggies beat the Romanian side 4-0 at home in one of the club’s best ever performances in European competition.

In addition to cup success, West Bromwich Albion enjoyed a long periods of top flight football in the league. However in the 1980s, the team’s form began to radically decline. The club eventually turned things around and began to progress toward the Premiership. Our Diary Gift features some of the Baggies’ most thrilling matches from this significant era, including two promotion-clinching matches.

In 1993, West Bromwich FC beat Swansea City 2-0 at home to reach the Division Three play-off final. By 2005, the club was playing in the Premiership, but heading for relegation. A 2-0 victory against Portsmouth saved West Bromwich FC in a miraculous final day of the season. The Baggies were relegated in the following year, but earned another promotion in 2008. The club beat Queens Park Rangers 0-2 in the final fixture to beat Stoke City to the Championship title by two points.
