Liverpool Personalised Football Diaries

Fabulous Diary Gifts for Fans of the Reds!

Liverpool FC was founded in 1892 when city rivals Everton left Anfield Stadium due to a dispute over rent. John Houlding, the stadium leaseholder and Everton director, remained at Anfield and he formed a brand new club to use the ground. Liverpool entered the second division in 1893 and the Reds went on to win the title without losing a game. Liverpool won the First Division in 1901, which was to be the first of many top flight honours. Managers such as Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley subsequently turned Liverpool into one of the most successful teams in England.

The Reds dominated league and cup competitions for long stretches in the 1970s and 1980s, with phenomenal players such as Phil Thompson, Kenny Dalglish and Graeme Souness. Success also extended into Europe, where the club has built a reputation as one of the most feared football teams around. Liverpool FC has won numerous European Cups and the most famous victory came in 2005, when the Reds recovered from a 3-0 deficit to beat a highly rated AC Milan team on penalties.

Our Personalised Liverpool Diaries feature a selection of match reports on some of the best games in the club’s history. These fascinating A5 Diaries can start from the month of your choice and they are a great gift idea for any fan of the club.

Diary Highlights

The Personalised Liverpool Diaries include match reports on European triumphs, First Division Championships and classic domestic Cup finals.

The Diaries open with the 2-0 win against Leeds United in the 1973 League campaign. This win guaranteed the title for the Reds and it would be the final league championship that was won with Bill Shankly as manager. In 1977, Bob Paisley led the team to the European Cup final, which Liverpool contested against Borussia Moenchengladbach. The Reds won the match 3-1 and they defended their title the following season. We round off our coverage of the 1970s with the title-winning league match of 1979; Liverpool beat Aston Villa 3-0 to claim their eleventh top flight trophy.

The A5 Diary features Liverpool’s First Division triumph of 1988 and two impressive cup final wins against city rivals, Everton. In 1984, the Reds beat the Toffees 1-0 in the League Cup final replay. In 1989, the two Merseyside clubs came together at Wembley stadium to contest an emotional FA Cup final. Ninety-six Liverpool fans had lost their lives in the semi-final against Nottingham Forest, as tragedy had occurred at Hillsborough stadium. The city of Liverpool united in grief and the Reds eventually won the cup with a 3-2 victory.

We also include the FA Cup wins of 1992 and 2001, plus the dramatic FA Cup final of 2006, which saw Liverpool come from behind to beat West Ham on penalties. The Reds had completed another stunning comeback at the end of the previous season. Liverpool faced AC Milan in the 2005 European Cup final and all seemed lost when Milan raced out to a 3-0 lead by half-time.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard inspired an incredible comeback and the Reds finally won the match on penalties. The game has since been called “The Miracle of Istanbul" and “The Greatest Final of All Time." Our Diary Gift incorporates a match report that was published the following day, as the football world tried to absorb the stunning game.
