West Ham Personalised Football Calendar

A Wonderful Gift Idea For West Ham Fans!

West Ham United formed in 1895 and won promotion to the top flight in their first professional season. The London football club has won both domestic and European cups and the Hammers have also forged a proud tradition of developing English players. West Ham supporters nicknamed their club “The Academy of Football" following England's World Cup win in 1966. Three of the players in the winning side were West Ham players: Bobby Moore, Martin Peters and Sir Geoffrey Hurst. Peters scored one of the goals in the famous 4-2 win against Germany and Hurst became the first football player to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final.

In recent years players such as Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, Joe Cole and Michael Carrick have emerged from West Ham's youth set-up. Each of these players left the Hammers and became successful at a 'top four' club. They also went on to represent England in international competition, maintaining the strong link between the West Ham Academy and the national side.

Our Personalised West Ham Calendars include twelve reproduced match reports from our newspaper archives, featuring a some of the club's best games from the past fifty years. Starting from the month of your choice, this fascinating A3 Calendar is a great gift idea for any fan of the Hammers.

Calendar Highlights

These Personalised West Ham FC Calendars begin with a selection of games from the Ron Greenwood era in the 1960s. In 1964 the Hammers won their first major trophy, beating Preston North End 3-2 in the final of the FA Cup. This victory also guaranteed the club a place in the European Cup Winners' Cup for the next football season. West Ham went on to win the competition, despite it being their European debut. The A3 Calendar features a match report from the quarter-final tie against FC Lausanne and the 2-0 win against Bayern Munich in the final.

In 1974, John Lyall took over as manager of West Ham FC and the cup success continued. The Hammers won the FA Cup in 1975 and 1980, beating Fulham and Arsenal respectively. In between these two terrific victories, West Ham reached another final in the European Cup Winners' Cup. Our Calendar Gift incorporates a report on the first leg of the semi-final against Eintracht Frankfurt. Although the Hammers would lose this match, the vital away goal set up a thrilling leg at home. West Ham eventually won 4-3 on aggregate and progressed to face Anderlecht in the final.

The last section of games to be covered in this unique Personalised Calendar consists of special league fixtures. In 1993, West Ham beat Cambridge United 2-0 in the play-off final to ensure promotion to the Premiership. Although the club subsequently fell back down to the Championship, the Hammers beat Preston North End 1-0 in 2005 to win another promotion. We have also included some of West Ham's most exciting general league matches from the past twenty-five years. Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Charlton were all thrashed following terrific home performances from the Hammers.
