Manchester United Personalised Football Calendar
Fabulous Gift Idea For Fans Of The Red Devils!
Manchester United FC, nicknamed Man U for short, has become one of the most popular football clubs in the world. Although winning trophies has been a habit for the Red Devils since the early 1900s, when Sir Alex Ferguson became manager of the side in 1986, he took the team to another level. 'Fergie' has led the club to over twenty major honours, including a historic treble in 1999. United also won nine out of the first fifteen Premier League titles. Man United's tradition of exciting players - such as George Best, Eric Cantona, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo - has helped Old Trafford to record the highest league attendance for the majority of seasons and the Red Devils' rivalry with Liverpool FC is one of the biggest clashes in world football.
Our Personalised Manchester United Calendars feature twelve reproduced match reports from our newspaper archives, celebrating some of the most important games from the past hundred years. Starting from the month of your choice, these A3 Calendars are a terrific gift idea for any fan of the Red Devils.
Calendar Highlights
These Personalised Manchester United Calendars begin back in the Matt Busby era, featuring match reports on the FA Cup finals of 1948 and 1963, in addition to the amazing 6-1 victory against Arsenal that guaranteed the club a First Division title in 1952. The Munich Air tragedy of 1958 inevitably hit the Red Devils hard. The club was still feeling the effects of the tragedy in the 1970s and they got relegated to the Second Division in 1974. However, in 1977, United began their revival, beating Liverpool 1-2 in the FA Cup Final.
The A3 Calendar also features the 4-0 FA Cup victory against Brighton in the 1983 final replay, before moving on to the appointment of a successful Scottish manager three years later, following the sacking of Ron Atkinson. The Alex Ferguson era started relatively slowly, with suggestions of him being sacked arising in 1990. However, Man United was about to explode with success and our Calendar Gift features a variety of highlights from Fergie's reign.
In 1991, the Red Devils beat FC Barcelona to win the European Cup Winners' Cup and in 1996, Manchester United rubbed salt into the wounds of a struggling Liverpool side, beating them 1-0 in yet another FA Cup triumph. One year later, Man U celebrated their fourth Premiership title in five seasons. In 1999, the club created history by beating Bayern Munich in an incredible Champions League final. Not only had the team won Manchester United's second European Cup, they had also completed an unprecedented treble. In 2007, Fergie reflected on his 'special club' following yet another Premiership title.
His team were on the brink of even more success. In 2008, United won their third Champions League trophy after winning a seventeenth top flight title. English clubs had begun to dominate the European competition and Manchester United faced Chelsea in the final in Moscow. A tense penalty shoot-out followed a 1-1 draw and Man United finally won the game 6-5. This dramatic encounter rounds off our fantastic Football Calendar.
