Leicester City Personalised Football Calendar
Fantastic Gift Idea For Fans Of The Foxes!
Leicester City FC was originally called Leicester Fosse football club, as when the team was originally formed by members of the Bible class at Old Emmanuel Church, they played their games at a private field near Fosse Street. A move to Filbert Street in 1919 prompted the Foxes to change the club's official name, and since 2002, Leicester FC has played at the Walkers Stadium. The Foxes have won numerous League Cups and Second Division titles and the club achieved a second place finish in the First Division in 1929.
Our Personalised Leicester City Calendars feature twelve reproduced match reports that we have dug up from our newspaper archives, covering a selection of exciting Leicester FC performances from the past sixty years. With league promotion, outstanding cup campaigns and trophy-clinching games all included - these A3 Calendars are a fabulous gift idea for any fan of the Foxes.
Calendar Highlights
In addition to a range of match reports on games from the new millennium, these fabulous Personalised Leicester City Calendars also feature a series of significant matches dating back to the incredible 5-0 win against Nottingham Forest in 1955.
In 1961, the Foxes were in the middle of their longest period of consecutive seasons in the top division. Matt Gillies was the manager of the club at the time and he soon helped Leicester City extend their success into the FA Cup. In March, Leicester FC beat Spurs 2-0 at Wembley in the first leg of the semi-final. Although the team would go on to lose in the second game, the match helped keep a momentum of good results in place for the Foxes.
The A3 Calendar recounts a trophy win in 1980, as Leicester City beat Charlton 2-1 to win the Second Division. There was further success for the club in the 1992, as a 5-0 demolition of Cambridge took Leicester to the play-off finals in the first year of the new format. Although the Foxes would be defeated, Leicester broke through to earn promotion in 1994, beating local rivals Derby County 2-1, thanks to a Steve Claridge brace.
One further trophy win is covered in this special Calendar Gift, this time from the 1996/1997 season. Leicester City took on Middlesbrough in the League Cup final and after a 1-1 draw enforced a replay, a single goal in extra time gave the Foxes not only silverware, but also the club's first win at Wembley Stadium in seven attempts.
